Construction of New Science & Technology Building, Glasgow Academy

Thursday 20th November 2014

We recently attended the topping out ceremony for the new £9million science & technology building at Glasgow Academy. Paul McKay from Woolgar Hunter, providing civil & structural engineering, said: “The former building on the site was in a bad state as a result of being built on poor ground so our role involved monitoring it before it could be brought down safely. To avoid any issues with the new building it is piled to bedrock with the concrete frame springing from the piled substructure.
