Garscube Estate Sports Faciilites, University of Glasgow
Woolgar Hunter have provided Civil and Structural engineering design services in the development of the Garscube Estate as Glasgow University's Sports Campus. Phase 1 involved the provision of four grassed sports pitches, an all-weather surfaced pitch and a pavilion building. Woolgar Hunter fully designed the site drainage and developed the platform levels and cut/fill exercise. The site is underlain by several coal seams which required extensive investigation, resulting in grouting over the pavilion building footprint.

Subsequently, Woolgar Hunter developed a scheme design for a new £8m sports complex on the site, incorporating a swimming pool, gymnasiums, changing and ancillary facilities. Latterly, we have also undertaken a feasibility study on behalf of Scottish Enterprise, for the provision of a new footbridge over the River Kelvin linking the West of Scotland Science Park and the Veterinary School Campus.
