CTIL – Structural Integrity & GRP Inspections
Working closely with our sister company Dynamic Concepts, Woolgar Hunter were asked to carry out structural
integrity surveys, structural design checks and GRP inspections on existing Vodafone & O2 rooftop sites throughout
Scotland and Northern England.
With a focus on health and safety, all structural steelwork was checked for damage, distortion, corrosion, cracked
welds as well missing nuts or bolts.
Concrete foundations and plinths were inspected for cracking, spooling and corrosion. All GRP elements were
inspected to ensure they were in a good state of repair and fixed firmly to its supporting steelwork.
Furthermore, inspections were also carried out on the building fabric and parent structure to which the telecom
installation was fixed to ensure there were no structural issues or defects.
Our site appraisal also included checks on existing equipment, noting any redundant items which could be removed,
physical checks on all bolted steelwork connections as well as antenna and dish mounting information. All minor
remedial works which were identified at the initial survey were carried out on the day.
Our structures team carried out calculations and design checks on the existing installation to ensure they met the
required standards and quality.
A comprehensive report was delivered for each site which detailed all defects as well as recommended timescales of
when any additional remedial works should be carried out.
