In order to complement the AHMM Architects design aesthetic for the office building, and the building services strategy, we developed a concrete framed structural design. The concrete frame is be extensively exposed internally and therefore the finishes specification is critical to the success of the building.
In order to minimise embodied carbon and achieve the desired finishes, a high percentage of GGBS cement replacement was utilised in the concrete.
The ground floor has multiple uses including a multipurpose bar & performance space, a coffee bar and a conference room. To create the clear spans required a steel transfer structure has been introduced at first floor level.
The building has a carefully detailed brickwork facade, supported on the concrete frame on a floor by floor basis.
