The client’s ambition is to make this the most sustainable office building that they have constructed to date, focusing not only on operational energy use, but also on embodied carbon and wider sustainability goals. It is being benchmarked against several of the Zero Carbon Targets established by RIBA and LETI.
Developing a new office building that remains commercially viable against such challenging carbon targets has led to the development of bespoke vibration assessment criteria to enable the assessment of CLT and composite CLT flooring systems.
The development of the structural framing system takes on board the challenging plant requirements and the co-ordination of the green facade whilst respecting the embedded carbon targets, which has challenged the accepted norm within office design in Manchester.
