Woolgar Hunter were appointed to the team to develop the design proposals produced by the Landscape Architect. Woolgar Hunter have supported on Civil, Structural, and Geotechnical Engineering. The end client is Clyde Gateway URC, who own a portion of the land involved. Other owners include Glasgow City Council who own the majority and also South Lanarkshire Council. The wider design team responsible for the delivery of this project are Turner & Townsend, as Project Managers & Cost Consultant, LUC landscape architects and Atelier Ten, providing M&E engineering advice and lighting.
The Woolgar Hunter Civils team has been responsible for the development of the levels, taking account of multiple design factors, including provision of sufficient clean cover in areas of contamination and consideration of minimising excavation in existing difficult sub soil conditions. The site drainage design was considered, to ensure paths would be protected from any runoff from adjacent earthworks, as was protection to existing properties near areas of upfill. Suitable minimum gradients were designed for accessible routes along the main blacktop surfaced corridors, with steeper gradients along the informal paths. This strategy assisted in reducing the 'dig' in these areas, which primarily were located within sensitive existing woodland.
This project is now under construction, with the first 2 phases complete and the reaming phase to be complete during October 21.
