Both brands provide state of the art leisure and recreation facilities including tennis halls, squash courts, fitness and aerobics gym, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and general amenities area.
In addition to the main leisure complex, these projects involved the construction of new access roads and Sustainable Urban Drainage Solutions for surface water run-off. The building structures followed a similar format and typically utilised steel framed structures for ancillary areas, while the tennis halls were formed using glulam timber pinned arches. Foundation solutions varied according to location, from concrete pad and strip foundations to piled systems The architectural facades to the buildings also varied according to the location, and the particular requirements of planning.
Pool structures were designed with input from specialist designers, and used various forms of construction on different projects. These typically involved a reinforced concrete slab with side walls either constructed from reinforced concrete or masonry. Stainless steel pools were also utilised. The building works were undertaken as Design and Build Contracts whereby the design team including Woolgar Hunter worked directly to the D&B Contractor.
