'Goals' 5-a-side Football Facilities, Glasgow & London
'Goals', and subsequently the Fortis Leisure Group, developed a series of successful 5-a-side football facilities across London and Glasgow, for which Woolgar Hunter provide Civil and Structural Engineering design services.
Our initial commission involved the reconstruction of an existing pavilion building, whilst maintaining use of the existing facilities, at the football centre in Shawlands in the South Side of Glasgow. This challenging logistical exercise was achieved through the construction of an independent steel framed structure to span over the existing building. This provided enhanced changing room facilities along with a large first floor bar lounge area.
We then went on to provide Civil and Structural Engineering services, on a repeat commission, for a series of 5-a-side football centres in London, including one at Wembley. These typically included new traditionally built (masonry and timber) pavilion buildings incorporating changing rooms and bar facilities, together with the synthetic pitches and associated fencing and infrastructure. Car parking was also provided including disabled access. Drainage solutions were designed to satisfy local authority requirements incorporating SUDs.
